Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Gunite is a dry-mix concrete process that allows us to build any shape, size, or depth imaginable. Unlike vinyl liners that need replacement every 10–15 years or fiberglass shells that arrive in a fixed shape, a gunite pool is a permanent concrete structure that you can resurface and renovate indefinitely. It's the only construction method that delivers a true custom result.
A typical custom gunite pool project takes 8–14 weeks from permit approval to final water fill. Complex designs with water features, spa integration, or extensive decking can run longer. We provide a detailed project timeline after the design phase so you always know exactly where you stand.

We feel Waterscapes consistently provides amongst the best service experience we have received from any company in any industry. In addition to a first rate, beautiful product delivered exactly the way they said it would, this team is incredibly responsive, kind and empathetic to any question, maintenance item or rare mechanical issue that arises. Every representative, every time.
…they are WITHOUT a doubt, the best pool contractor I have ever worked with. It was a complicated build with changes on-the-fly, but they were honest, ethical and fair (fantastically so) from start to finish.
One of the biggest advantages working with them was their all in-house crew (no subcontractors). … The quality of the gunite pool construction and materials was outstanding. … Every time I walk out my back door, it honestly feels like I’m stepping into a resort.
We interviewed Waterscapes (and other pool builders) and chose Waterscapes for their creative and thoughtful approach in collaborating with us on the perfect pool design that would blend with our natural surroundings. … The finished product exceeded our expectations - so much so that we retained John and Waterscapes to construct a recirculating stream in front of our house. … I wholeheartedly recommend this excellent company.
Having one dedicated, professional team handle every detail—rather than coordinating random subcontractors—made the entire process incredibly smooth, on-time, and completely stress-free. … They delivered a masterpiece we’ll enjoy for years to come—5 stars all the way!
Last year, they built our custom infinity pool and delivered a true turnkey backyard resort—and everything exceeded our expectations. … What we appreciated most was having one contractor and one team managing everything. … Our only regret is not doing it sooner.
From start to finish, the process was organized, professional, and completely customized to fit our home and lifestyle. … The craftsmanship truly exceeded our expectations. Our pool feels like a private retreat right here in Middle Tennessee, and the quality speaks for itself.
Working with Waterscapes Backyard Resort has been an exceptional experience from start to finish. The quality of their work truly sets them apart. … They are a pleasure to work with—responsive, knowledgeable, and genuinely committed to creating beautiful, functional outdoor spaces.
Waterscapes has installed number of pools for me. They are so easy to work with and offer a large selection of pool decking and tile finishes for your pool. Lee Seelig has built a great team of professionals to ensure every detail of your pool design is finished to perfection. … I know they are the only pool builder I would ever use.
